See what Hinge Collective is doing now
Jefferson architecture and landscape architecture students are presenting their Hunting Park site inventory and analysis to Esperanza today while pitching potential sites that can benefit from design interventions. So grateful to Esperanza for working with us! Where will this semester lead? This conversation will soon determine the course. #proudoftheseguys @cabe_jefferson @esperanza_us
So glad to be a part of this really important conversation about design and the opioid epidemic hosted by #FitCityPHL @hpcphilly @dvrpc @phlpublichealth
Honored to have #FrankfordPause Park (and our very own Ari Miller) highlighted on the cover of the current issue of Context magazine focusing on equity. Thanks to everyone that has helped to make this project a reality: @frankfordcdc @philaplanning @chris_bakerevens @artplaceamerica @mariaqsanchez @cdesigncphl
Spent the morning exploring some interstitial spaces of north Philly with this great crew of architecture and landscape architecture students. I’m looking forward to seeing some of their really insightful observations visualized over the next few weeks. #jeffersonuniversity #definitelynottrespassing #landscapearchitecture #assetmapping
Today we installed a temporary wish gallery at the #KensingtonGateway. The amazing @chris_bakerevens captured portraits of people at the #RocktheBlock party holding up their wishes. We printed them on site, and installed the gallery over the course of the day. This display of shared values and faces is our first step in hopefully changing the way that people perceive this vacant lot and envision it as a place of community strength. The rain tried to stop us, but thanks to the help of the @nkcdc and Penn Praxis team we did it! #publicinterestdesign #tacticalurbanism #incrementaldesign @shift_capital @therockphilly
The #KensingtonGateway info pillar was out in the wild this afternoon collecting memories and dreams from #kensington neighbors about their neighborhood. Thanks to Somerset Neighbors for Better Living for hosting such a fantastic event! @nkcdc
The surveys that we gathered with the PYN youth overwhelmingly said that we needed a sign. So we made one. Welcome to Frankford Pause Park! And everyone got so sign their names (in chalk) on the back. #frankfordpause #philadelphiayouthnetwork @frankfordcdc
It was such a pleasure having @myphillypark visit #FrankfordPause for lunch this afternoon so we could share some of the work that is happening in the park and at @frankfordcdc next door.
Had a great day building picnic tables with the PYN youth! Based on surveys they they’ve been conducting with us, there is overwhelming desire for seating, so they wanted to start with these. They have even more ideas that we will start on next week, so stay tuned. #FrankfordPause #philadelphiayouthnetwork #greatplaceforlunch
Ah, the dangers of outdoor meetings. They came out for the pizza and conversation, but they stayed because it was pouring down rain and no one wanted to walk home. But that’s also when the real conversations and the best stories began. #kensingtongateway
Thanks to these PYN youth, we have stacks of surveys from the Frankford neighbors about how to improve Frankford Pause Park! Now we are using this rainy day to enter them into the database. Apparently these survey responses are hilarious....because data entry isn’t usually this much fun. #frankfordpause #philadelphiayouthnetwork
Finally enjoying the amazing #SoPhiEFoodTruck with @seamaac tonight. Guys! Find this truck! It’s so delicious!
A huge shout out to the #PennDesign #FabLab for helping us make this #infopillar a reality. This morning we moved out of the lab and gave it a final coat of paint (on the sidewalk, of course) in preparation for its trip to Kensington. #urbanaction #kensingtongateway
A big THANK YOU to the Frankford Pause Task Force group! We kicked off our engagement and design phase this afternoon with all of their advice and feedback. We are looking forward to working with these folks over the next few months to make the best park possible. #FrankfordPause @frankfordcdc
It’s starting to take shape! #penndesign #urbanactionstudio #designbuild
Day 1 in the #penndesign #fablab was mostly about cutting the shapes for the Kensington Gateway park community pillars. I can’t wait to see these start to take shape tomorrow. #urbanactionstudio #designbuild
Surveying our studio site in Kensington with our summer interns using simple transit level and Philadelphia rod. #kensington #penndesign #communitydesign
Thanks to @communitydesign_org for the chance to participate in this great panel about funding and practice models. It was a truly wonderful conversation. #acdreverb #communitydesign #baltimore
Want to talk to some people with very different design practice models and hear about multiple avenues for funding? Walk on over to the University of Baltimore Law School and join the conversation (maybe you can even give us some tips).
No shortage of inspiration here in Baltimore. As if the words and works of the #ACDReverb conference were not enough, I then stumble into places like this and have a conversation with artists at work.
